The process of In Vitro Fertilization is definitely a tricky process. It starts by stimulating the patient` to increase the production of oocytes "eggs" cells. This IVF pregnancy is really helpful to those couples who are aiming to cuddle a baby of their own, but are unable to conceive. The stimulation of the egg in the ovary is done through the administering of medications in the form of various injections. Aside from those procedures, IVF protocol is also important while in the process.
There are three introduced forms of IVF protocol. Below are three forms of IVF protocol being discussed:
1. Antagonist IVF Protocol- The various protocols need to prevent spontaneous ovulation. In other words, we need to make sure the patient does not ovulate and looses all the eggs prior to the ability to retrieve them. The antagonist protocol, medication such as Cetrotide and Ganirelix are used to prevent the patient from ovulating on her own in combination with other medication to stimulate egg production.
2. Luteal Lupron IVF Protocol- This Luteal Lupron Protocol of In Vitro Fertilization is also known as “Long Protocols” and others call this as down-regulation. This is the most commonly used IVF protocol especially in the US. Many experts believe that by using this method, the success rate of getting pregnant is relatively high. This is also known as mid-luteal timing. What is this, you ask? This is administering Luteal Lupron seven days before the start of the next menstruation period. The common grand name of these medications which are known as FSH product, these are Follistim, Gonal-F amd Menopur and their dose vary with the choices of the doctor and the situation of the patient. This FSH drugs are to be taken within the first two to seven days after the starting of the period. As the stimulation develops, the dose is also adjusted. In this protocol the Lupron prevents self ovulation
3. Flare up IVF Protocol- This kind of In Vitro Fertilization is used as an alternative; this implies that if other forms did not work effectively this Flare Protocol can be used. This protocol is especially beneficial for women with decreased ovarian reserve due advance age or premature decrease of ovarian function. This also known as the “short protocol”. In this kind of stimulation protocol is started on the day 2 of the cycle in the same menstrual period that the egg cells can be retrieved. Flare Protocol is different from the “long protocol” because the latter must be administered seven days before the menstruation period. This protocol is benefited by the initial “flare-up response of the LH and FSH discharge from the pituitary gland that occurs in the first three days of the administration of Lupron. Pills for birth control are administered during the month prior to the administration of the flare. This is done to suppress the generation of the corpus luteum or the leftover cyst.
When any of these protocols are religiously observed, the success rate of In Vitro Fertilization pregnancy can be higher. The differences of women in their situation may be the reason for the carrying of the administration. Whatever the situation of a woman, she must not forget to take a series of visits to a competent obstetrician to be certain of the result.
