Treating Male Infertility according to Etiology at Midwest Fertility Center.

The way we analyze and see that male has an Infertility problem is usually by getting very low Sperm parameters, in other words- low Sperm count, low Semen volume, poor motility or a lot of abnormal Sperm.

The reasons could be various, anywhere from life style such as heat exposure to using a lot of tobacco, or drinking a lot of alcohol. Two things that are more independent of life style such as hormonal disturbances, or actually developed sexual functional problems.
If the causes are primarily hormonal, often we can treat hormonally the male and get much better Sperm count.

At times the Sperm count is so low, that we cannot improve it sufficiently for the couple to get pregnant on their own, and then we would do In Vitro Fertilization using ICSI (Intrauterine Cytoplasmatic Sperm Injection) to treat the male factor.

So we would give the male some Anesthesia, we would retrieve with a needle- Sperm from the testicle, and then we can use each Sperm with ICSI to inject into a single oocyte - a single egg, and achieve a pregnancy.

Even when the Sperm count is very low, or even when we do not have any Sperm, and the only way to get the Sperm is from accessing the testicles directly.
